Welcome to the Mobile Money FAQ page, your guide to our convenient debit card system for converting cash into a prepaid Mastercard for use at our theaters. Find answers to common questions to help you enjoy a smooth and easy experience with Mobile Money!
Mobile Money is the cash-to-card kiosk located in each Santikos, Grand, and AmStar theater location. The kiosk operates as a “reverse ATM”, which means you deposit cash into the machine, and it dispenses a debit card loaded with the amount of deposited cash (less any fees) in return.
No. The cards that are dispensed from the kiosk are MasterCard branded debit cards that can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted. The debit cards are managed by Akimbo, which is a payments platform.
There is a $3 fee per card that is charged when the card is purchased. For example, if you deposit $50 in the kiosk, the kiosk will retain the $3 fee and dispense a debit card with a $47 value.
When you purchase the card, please read the Cardholder Agreement carefully to understand the fee schedule assessed by the card’s processor, Sunrise Bank. You may incur additional fees for leaving a balance on the card beyond the month in which the card was purchased. For example, there is a monthly fee of $6.95 that begins on the second day of each month after purchase, as well as a 90-day inactivity fee of $4.95.
There are multiple convenient options:
a. Scan the QR code on the back of your card to view your balance.
b. Visit any Santikos theater and swipe the card at the Mobile Money kiosk to view your balance.
c. Visit

d. Call Akimbo Cardholder Customer Service at (855) 449-2273, which is open M-F 5am-5pm CST, excluding holidays.
e. Use the link provided to you through text message after card registration.
f. Download and register your card on the “moneymobileinc” app on your mobile phone.
Yes, the cards can be reloaded on the “moneymobileinc” mobile app by registering your debit card and linking a checking account to the card. The cards cannot be reloaded with cash at the kiosk at this time.
Up to $1,000 can be loaded per card, and up to $2,000 can be loaded per phone number, per day. (A phone number is required when the card is purchased.)
You do not have to register your card; however, it is highly recommended because only registered cards can be replaced if they are lost. Visit https://app.akimbocard.com/app/#/registeror download the “moneymobileinc” mobile app to register your card.
Call Akimbo Cardholder Customer Service at (855) 449-2273 or visit www.akimbocard.com. If a card is registered online prior to being misplaced, a replacement card can be mailed to you. If not registered, cards are treated as cash and cannot be replaced or amounts frozen if lost or stolen.
The debit card is issued by USIO, which is an agent of Sunrise Banks N.A., member FDIC, pursuant to a license from MasterCard International. This is a separate entity from Mobile Money.
Call Akimbo Cardholder Customer Service at (855) 449-2273. All transaction disputes must be handled between the customer and Akimbo. No calls from third parties, such as Santikos or Mobile Money, will be accepted by Akimbo for transaction disputes.
Alert any Santikos, Grand, or AmStar team member, and a member of the theater management team will assess the issue and contact Mobile Money Support.
